I also studied Buddhism, Hatha yoga..practiced the yoga part did not like the chanting..part of syllables I didn't understand since when I as a young Catholic we said Mass in Latin, which we did learn eventually, though I do understand the function of Monks and rhythmic chanting in terms of brain waves (I am biologist/biochemist, by education and training which now later in life affirmed my first calling and revelation to me by the Godhead. There are many serious scholars on this: Paul Bilheimer, Don't Waste Your Sorrows comes close to explaining a post Jesus Christ's second coming as described in The Revelation.
