Mark Passio was the first person I came across on YT that confirmed a lot of what I've intuited about the world myself by going within, except he had all the knowledge that tied all the pieces of the puzzle together and filled in the gaps. I consider him a legend in the truth movement. However I do have to say that, although I understand his "righteous" anger and his outbursts on many of his videos, I think he is doing a disservice and turning a lot of people off that could otherwise benefit from his knowledge and his teachings. I understand how frustrating it must be trying to wake people up for the past nearly 20 years, and yet seeing humanity going downhill at an alarming rate.
I've watched his video on The Real Seven Deadly Sins before, and I have to say that I disagree with him on this. The word 'sin' in the Bible has been obfuscated to bring shame when people experience the physiological and psychological conditions of pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth that are considered sinful. The original word for 'sin' was hamartia, which literally means "to miss the mark". In other words, these quite normal physiological conditions that we have all experienced in our lives are a symptom of being out of alignment. If we don't do our shadow work, then these are the conditions that can lead to the actions and transgressions against another that Mark talks about, what he calls the real seven deadly sins.
I'm really looking forward to his seminar on shadow work to see the content and his angle on how to do shadow work. This is something that just is not spoken about enough and I agree with him, that it is essential spiritual work if we are ever to be truly free. When we truly know ourselves, both the dark and light within us, we simply cannot be controlled.
Yes, I agree. I don't mind his attitude, makes me laugh often, but I've had others say they can't listen to him, because of his angry rants, and they just shut him off.
These days, I think similarly to John Lamb Lash, in his book, "Not in His Image" that so-called "sin" is simply losing connection with your higher self (which we all do) AND not learning from mistakes. Labeling specific emotions as "sin" is not very helpful, when we all struggle with them, to various degrees.
Mainly, I think Mark is trying to emphasize that immoral ACTIONS are the key to everything. But poor emotions/thinking within an individual WILL lead to immoral actions, whether to ourselves or others. You can't love others if you can't love yourself. So, Mark's emphasis that only immoral outward actions towards others are transgressions of natural law, while we can fester inwardly with bad thoughts/emotions, is less then ideal. Damaging yourself damages others.
Mark should emphasize that we do immoral actions towards ourselves first, to various degrees, before acting outwardly. As the saying goes, "hurting people hurt people". I remember he emphasized once in a podcast that staying in a wounded inward state could eventually lead to immoral actions towards others, but I think he needs to state plainly that THIS WILL ALWAYS BE THE CASE, SOONER OR LATER. It's just a matter of time before semblance of self control breaks down.
Therefore, the false Seven Deadly Sins are precursors to the real Seven Deadly Sins, and if you are harming yourself, sooner or later, you will start harming others as well. Mark almost seems to think one can possibly engage in pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth WHILE AT THE SAME TIME somehow avoiding the real 7 deadly sins for a lifetime? I don't think so. Assuming you live long enough, that attitude will getcha, sooner or later. Gets back to good parenting, which Mark rages that poor parenting is where it all starts. Hard to correct things once you are a so-called mature adult.
That's great you are doing the Shadow Work seminar. I am as well. I will see you there!
I scanned the video. Mark passio mentioned transcendental meditation that will be taught in his shadow work seminar. This form of meditation is designed to make you receive messages from the universe in silence. I think this will help me change my own life. I definitely need the infinite intelligence of the universe. My intellect is trying to bury its head in the sand and do dumb things till death. My mind is dumb but thinks it is smart. My mind chases its own tail like a cat while thinking it's making any progress in doing so.
I went vegan because of Mark! 💚🌱🫶
